LED light at 500mm

January 5, 2026 – I don’t buy new lenses very often but finally broke down and bought a long telephoto “wildlife” lens. I purchased a Nikon 200-500mm f5.6 zoom that is actually quite an old lens and will likely be discontinued soon as it’s an old F mount lens and all of the newer Nikon lenses are the modern Z mount. It’s heavy, a somewhat budget lens but at the same time gets glowing reviews from the photographers that use it…. and the price was right! The few photos I quickly shot on a gloomy day have proven this lens to be impressively sharp. This is 500mm at f5.6, 1/25 second hand held.
